In 1917, the company moved to Grand Rapids, Ohio, from their original location of Toledo, to tap a new pool of laborers. And by 1919, they had found their home in Norwalk.
Norwalk Furniture secured a government wartime contract in the 1930s to produce products to help with the war effort. This contract kept Norwalk on the map and allowed them to return to their roots making upholstered furniture when the war was won.
Fast forward to 2008, however, and Norwalk Furniture was suffering due to the global recession. But thanks to the companies upstanding morals and their focus on local hospitality in the past, twelve local families banded together to save the company. Since then, Norwalk Furniture has thrived.
Norwalk’s revival in 2008 came with a name change to Norwalk Custom Order Furniture.
